One of the leading casualty underwriters in the United States for over twenty years, Bill Malone joined METRO/RISK as President of Special Operations in June of 2001, bringing with him vast experience and expertise in a number of areas including public entities, utilities, construction, manufacturing, and service and financial industries. He has an extensive background handling a variety of specialty coverages including professional error & omissions, directors & officers, environmental, nuclear, and employment practices liability.
After completing studies at UCLA, he began his insurance career in the late 1960's. He was Western Director of Underwriting with CNA, and President of C. V. Starr & Co., a subsidiary of AIG. During his tenure with these companies he pioneered a number of significant coverage grants for the public entity and utility fields, and several of the policy forms he created are have become standards for the entire industry.
Immediately prior to joining METRO/RISK, he was a senior officer at Aon Risk Services, and served as Chair of their Casualty Practice Group. He was responsible for the insurance programs of the State of Hawaii, American National Power Association, Dillingham Construction, Grupe International, The Association of California Water Agencies, and Koi Clubs of America.
Holding the designation of Associate in Risk Management (ARM), he has also completed postgraduate studies with the CPCU society. Mr. Malone resides in Walnut Creek, with his wife Barbara, and is involved with the local school board as well as state and local political endeavors.
