State Bar of California
Created by the state legislature in 1927, the State Bar of California is a public corporation within the judicial branch of government, serving as an arm of the California Supreme Court. With 190,000 members, it is the largest state bar in the nation, and its functions include testing and admission of all new lawyers in the State, attorney discipline, legal education and professional competence review, and administration of justice.
