ACWA Joint Powers Insurance Authority
ACWA Joint Powers Insurance Authority (JPIA) is one of the nation's leading public entity insurance organizations. It was formed in 1979 by the water agencies of the state of California, under the sponsorship of the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA). Like its members, the JPIA is a special district in the state of California and its formation and operation are subject to the provisions of the California Government Code. The JPIA provides risk-sharing pools to meet the needs of its members for property, liability, and workers' compensation insurance.
